Name: Madison Dunaway.
If we were to ask those around you, what role would they say you most often play in the lives of others?
The encourager. I have found in most situations people simply need to be reminded of the strengths they already possess in order to go forward with confidence. I feel so blessed to have been surrounded by amazing individuals who each have so much to give and offer that it brings me a lot of joy to see them thrive in those areas. Plus, I know how good it makes me feel when someone says something kind or points out an attribute they admire so I try to make that a part of my relationships.
What is your unique place in your family?
I guess I see myself as the one who has really tried to break the cycle of abuse. My family, growing up, was rife with pain, dysfunction, and abuse and I have tried my best to not repeat those patterns. Now that I have a family of my own, I see even more how important it is to do things differently and not allow those horrible behaviors to affect my children.
Hardest trial you faced, and ways it has made you stronger:
I am not sure where to go with this one, I feel like I have been handed some pretty heavy duty stuff over the years, so I can't really put my finger on the "one" trial that has made me stronger. I would say the culmination of all the hardship has taught me that everyone, no matter how much you love them, will disappoint and hurt you at some point in your life. For me, that is where a relationship with Jesus became such a beacon of hope. Knowing that He will never disappoint me, never let me down, and love me even when I absolutely do not deserve it, makes me strong.
Your definition of beauty:
A person who can handle any situation with grace and class.
Accomplishment you're most pleased with:
My loving marriage and my amazing daughter. Believe me, in today's world, they are both a HUGE accomplishment!
Next feat you're tackling:
I am currently pregnant with another baby girl, so going from one child to two, in the midst of moving cross country for a major life change that involves letting go of some big dreams for now.
I have so many! Of course I would LOVE to have a successful, sustaining acting career, but also I would secretly love to be a country music star. I also have this little dream of having my own organic bakery.
Baked goods! I love homemade cookies, cakes, brownies, tarts, you name it.
Three things that make you terribly happy:
Watching my husband and daughter play and laugh, feeling the new baby move and kick, and a good, strong, heartfelt hug from a steadfast friend.
