Noteworthy #4: Michelle Cundiff

What is it the most significant thing you feel you have done to make a difference in the lives of other people?

Honestly, neither Jeremy nor I feel we have done anything "significant."  There isn't a single thing we have done in our own power.  We have possibly done small things to help people, but again nothing "significant."  We hope to be in a position someday to be able to do things significantly, but until that day comes we continue to simply do what we can and most importantly follow the leading of our Heavenly Father.  We hope that through our prayers and standing in faith with those we love, He will make a difference in their lives!

(since she won't take credit for it herself - I'm going to put in a side note here that I chose Michelle because of her recent adoption of three Haitian children, adding to a brood of her own she already had at home).

What motivated your heart?

We are motivated daily by the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus.  He is the air we breathe, the joy of our heart, and the reason we are who we are.  We rely on Him everyday, to lead, guide, and direct our paths.  Proverbs says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart.  Lean not on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him and he shall direct your paths."  This is how we live.  We trust Him with everything we have, and strive to always follow His lead.

How did it change you?

Our lives have been changed by the time we have spent in Haiti, while adopting and working with Three Angels Children's Relief.  We came to the realization of how blessed we truly are.  Jeremy and I both experienced changes through our multiple visits.  We were reminded of what is truly important in life.  We were shown how materialistic we can be at times.  We began to experience a love that crossed borders, language barriers, and cultural differences.  One can't put into words the change that takes place when experiencing this love.  We have a desire to help others, in any way we can.

What is your favorite quote?
“There are men and women who make the world better just by being the kind of people they are.  They have the gift of kindness or courage or loyalty or integrity. It really matters very little whether they are behind the wheel of a truck or running a business or bringing up a family.  They teach the truth by living it" - James Garfield.

Favorite picture you have taken:

I have always loved this one.  It was taken while in Haiti.  We went to the beach with the kids.  Although we were in this poverty stricken country, where life is hard on a level we can't begin to comprehend, I experienced the beauty of His creation and could join with the earth in praise.  This picture just reminds me that the mountains bow down and the seas roar at the sound of His name, regardless of where I am or what circumstance I'm in.  I have many favorite pictures, but I do love this one.

I don't take "credit" because we simply did what any other parent would do when they found out their children were in another country. You do whatever you can to bring them home.

Thanks, Shanley for thinking we are "Noteworthy."
